Fishy Fun on Our First Field Trip -Members Only
Kids and adults alike enjoyed the first field trip of the Catholic Family Adventure Club, a trip to the Athen’s Fish Hatchery and East Texas Arboretum.
Our first stop was the Athen's Fish Hatchery. After a quick tour of the exhibits, we were treated to an indoor dive show where we learned more about the many different types of freshwater fish that can be found in the lakes and streams of Texas. We then took a tram ride that explained in more detail the processes involved in the breeding of the fish that are released throughout the state. After the tram ride, our group took the nature walk to return to the main building. This, approximately ¾ mile long walk, gave us all an opportunity to stretch our legs and enjoy the beautiful weather.
After a quick lunch, we headed to the East Texas Arboretum. Everyone was pretty tired after our morning's activities, but we still managed to get in another quick hike as well as take some time to tour the many historic buildings they have their own site. We also made sure that our littlest friends got some well deserved time at the playground.
We missed everyone who couldn’t make it due to illness, and we hope that everyone is feeling better and ready to come and join us at our other events this month: St. Mary Magdalene Fall Fest, Monthly Mass and Picnic, and Park Playdate at Southside.
